Its objective is to analyze if the economic growth modified the population epidemiological profile and if there was an impact on morbid-mortality rates. This is a descriptive correlational study with retrospective longitudinal design.Results show that Argentina is moving from being a young population towards maturity except in the northern provinces. There is a positive association between child mortality and public institutions without hospitalization which suggests allocation of resources in places with more health problems. The mother’s education is seen as a protection factor for the child’s survival. General mortality rate adjusted according to age decreases, and there is an increase in life expectancy associated with the reduction of child mortality. As in developed countries, heart disease represents the main cause of death and this rate adjusted according to age is decreasing. On the other hand, the incidence of TB is found in all districts. As regards congenital syphilis, only Tierra del Fuego, Catamarca and Chubut are excluded. Capital Federal is placed among the six districts concerning VIH, Aids, Congenital Syphilis and TB. There is an important increase of mother’s death. Este trabajo examina los cambios ocurridos en la transición demográfica e indicadores de salud de Argentina en el período 2001-2009. Tiene por objetivo analizar si con el crecimiento económico varió el perfil epidemiológico de la población, y si hubo algún impacto en las tasas de morbi-mortalidad. El alcance del estudio es descriptivo y correlacional y el diseño retrospectivo longitudinal. Los resultados muestran que Argentina esta dejando de ser una población joven e inició un tránsito hacia la madurez salvo en las provincias del norte. Se observa una asociación positiva entre tasas de mortalidad infantil y establecimientos públicos sin internación lo que sugiere una asignación de recursos en los lugares donde hay más problemas sanitarios. La educación de la madre se muestra como un factor de protección para la sobrevida de su hijo. La tasa de mortalidad general ajustada por edad decrece y hay un aumento en la expectativa de vida asociada a la disminución de la mortalidad infantil. Al igual que en los países desarrollados, la principal causa de muerte son las enfermedades cardiovasculares, y su tasa ajustada por edad va disminuyendo. Por otro lado, la incidencia por tuberculosis se da en todos los distritos. Respecto a sífilis congénita solo se exceptúa Tierra del Fuego, Catamarca y Chubut. Capital Federal se halla entre los seis primeros distritos en cuanto a las tasas de incidencia de VIH, SIDA, Sífilis congénita y tuberculosis. Hay un aumento importante de muertes maternas.
