As a result, the starting point of this work was to describe the health situation of Ancasti Department in relation to the local population opinion about health/disease/service and the management capacity of local effectors. The research described associates the opinion of local users of health services in a rural area of Catamarca with the management capacity of their own health system. To develop this investigation, theoretical frameworks characterizing the rural territory as a whole were considered; thus, a cross section descriptive study was done throughout 2009 which included population and effectors through the variables “services offered” “services requested”. La heterogeneidad desde el punto de vista político, cultural, productivo, geográfico y poblacional del Departamento Ancasti, Provincia de Catamarca, representa un llamado de atención respecto a la articulación del sistema sanitario de la Provincia con el ámbito rural. Por ello el objetivo del presente trabajo fue describir la situación de salud del Departamento Ancasti en relación a la opinión que tienen los pobladores de los determinantes del proceso salud/enfermedad/atención y a la capacidad de gestión de los efectores locales.La investigación que se describe vinculó las opiniones de los usuarios de los servicios de salud de una zona rural de Catamarca con la capacidad de gestión de su propio sistema sanitario. Para el desarrollo de la investigación, se consideraron marcos teóricos que caracterizaron el territorio rural de manera integral; de esta manera, durante el año 2009 se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal que incluyó a la población a los efectores a través de las variables ‘oferta de servicios’, ‘demanda de servicios’.
