Method: Retrospective descriptive observational study. 721 care records of bitten patients were analyzed in the district of Ate (Lima-Peru), during the period 2015-2018. Causality was estimated using the odds ratio (OR) and the statistical association with the Chi-square test. Results: 53,6% of the cases were in men. The mean age was 29,6 years. Also, 95% of the attacks were caused by dogs. However, children between 0 and 11 years old (OR:1,78; IC: 1,26-2,49) had a higher risk of being bitten by known animals in the craniofacial region (OR: 2,31; IC: 1,34-3,98). Conclusion: The results allowed us to identify that the characteristics of mammalian bite injuries vary according to the aggressor species, age and gender of the victim.
