description Background: There is relatively little regional literature on nutritional status in orphaned adolescents or social risk. Objective: To characterize the nutritional status of institutionalized orphan adolescents in community homes. Material and methods: Study carried out in a community center that included 30 orphaned adolescents housed in 15 homes evaluated anthropometrically, as well as determination of physical activity (PAQ-A) in the period of May 2017. Results: The mean age was 15.3 years (+/-: 2.13; R: 12-18.9); the most frequent group was 16-18.9 years 16/30 (53.4%). Sex was female in 16/30 (53.3%) and male in 14/30 (46.7%), without gender differences (p> 0.05). They were classified as chronic undernourished 4/30 (13.4%). Deficiency in the intake of at least one macronutrient was found in 24/30 (80%) adolescents, three macronutrients in 16/30 (53.3%), two macronutrients in 6/30 (20%), one in 2/30 (6.7 %). Deficiency in carbohydrate intake was identified in 15/30 (50%) cases and fat in 8/30 (26.7%) as well as excess fat intake in 15/30 (50%) adolescents and in 5/30 (20 %) of carbohydrates. A negative energy balance was determined in 22/23 (95.7%) adolescents. Percentage of the deficit in the caloric supply ranged between 5-40% of the group studied. Conclusion: The incidence of chronic undernutrition is similar to that reported by other research conducted in orphanages, as well as the negative caloric balance, however deficiencies in macronutrient intake that cover most of the adolescents studied have particular characteristics that merit individualized design of educational interventions at all levels in the institution.

Objetivo: Caracterizar el estado nutricional del adolescente huérfano o en riesgo social institucionalizado en hogares comunitarios. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo transversal llevado a cabo en centro comunitario que incluyó 30 adolescentes huérfanos albergados en 15 hogares evaluados antropométricamente, así como determinación de actividad física (PAQ-A) en el período de septiembre 2017. Resultados: La media de la edad fue 15.3 años (+/-:2.13; R: 12-18.9); el grupo más frecuente fue 16-18.9 años 16/30 (53.4%). El sexo fue femenino en 16/30 (53.3%) y masculino en 14/30 (46.7%), sin diferencias de género (p>0.05). Se clasificaron como subnutridos crónicos 4/30 (13.4%). Se encontró deficiencia en la ingesta de al menos un macronutriente en 24/30 (80%) adolescentes, tres macronutrientes en 16/30 (53.3%), dos macronutrientes en 6/30 (20%), uno en 2/30 (6.7%). Se identificó deficiencia en ingesta de carbohidratos en 15/30 (50%) casos y de grasas en 8/30 (26.7%) así como exceso de ingesta de grasas en 15/30 (50%) adolescentes y en 5/30 (20%) de carbohidratos. Conclusión: La incidencia de subnutrición crónica es similar a la reportada por otras investigaciones realizadas en orfanatos, así como el balance calórico negativo, sin embargo, las deficiencias en ingesta de macronutrientes que abarcan a la mayor parte de los adolescentes estudiados tienen características particulares que ameritan el diseño individualizado de intervenciones educativas a todo nivel en la institución. Objetivo: Caracterizar o estado nutricional do adolescente órfão institucionalizado ou em situação de risco social em domicílios comunitários. Métodos: Estudo descritivo transversal realizado em um centro comunitário que incluiu 30 adolescentes órfãos alojados em 15 domicílios avaliados antropometricamente, bem como determinação da atividade física (PAQ-A) no período de setembro de 2017. Resultados: A média de idade foi 15,3 anos (+/-: 2,13; R: 12-18,9); o grupo mais frequente foi de 16-18,9 anos 16/30 (53,4%). O sexo era feminino em 16/30 (53,3%) e masculino em 14/30 (46,7%), sem diferenças de gênero (p> 0,05). 4/30 (13,4%). Foram classificados como subnutridos crônicos 4/30 (13,4%). Evidenciou-se deficiência na ingestão de pelo menos um macronutriente em 24/30 (80%) adolescentes, três macronutrientes em 16/30 (53,3%), dois macronutrientes em 6/30 (20%), um deles em 2/30 (6,7%). Identificou-se deficiência na ingestão de carboidratos em 15/30 (50%) casos e ingestão de gordura em 8/30 (26,7%), bem como ingestão excessiva de gordura em 15/30 (50%) adolescentes e 5/30 (20%) de carboidratos. Determinou-se um balanço energético negativo em 22/23 (95,7%) adolescentes. Em porcentagem, a deficiência no suprimento calórico variou entre 5 a 40% da turma avaliada. Conclusão: A incidência de subnutrição crônica é semelhante à relatada por outras investigações realizadas em orfanatos, bem como o balanço calórico negativo, porém, as deficiências na ingestão de macronutrientes que abrangem a maioria dos adolescentes estudados possuem características particulares que merecem o desenho individualizado de intervenções educativas em todos os níveis da instituição.
