Material and method: Quantitative, descriptive and transversal study. The sample was made up of 10% of the students in the first year of each race considered as a conglomerate, chosen at random. For data collection a form was used and the weight and height were taken, investigating the variables age, sex, race, daily intake, performance and frequency of physical activity, nutritional status and main food consumed between hours. Results: The data of 90 students from the three careers were analyzed, observing that 53% presented adequate weight, 39% overweight and 8% obesity. 57% did not perform physical activity; women were more active than men; only 27% did it three or more times a week. Regarding the daily food intake, lunch was the most frequent, not the snack, the least consumed. Half of the students reported infusion of mate as the main intake between meals, but 34% resorted to industrialized carbohydrates; only 12% mentioned fruits and derivatives. Conclusions: There are variations of the nutritional status in the first year students of the three careers of the Faculty of Medicine, with alarming data of overweight and obesity. The most affected population is Medicine and male sex.

Introducción: El acceso a la universidad supone un cambio importante en el estudiante que puede repercutir en su estilo de vida, principalmente la alimentación y la actividad física. Objetivo general: Describir la situación nutricional en los estudiantes de primer año de las tres carreras de la Facultad de Medicina (UNNE). Material y método: Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo y transversal. La muestra se conformó con 10% de los cursantes de primer año de cada carrera considerada como conglomerado, elegidos al azar. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó un formulario y se tomaron el peso y la talla, investigando las variables edad, sexo, carrera, ingesta diaria, realización y frecuencia de actividad física, estado nutricional y principal alimento consumido entre horas. Resultados: Se analizaron los datos de 90 estudiantes de las tres carreras, observando que 53 % presentaba peso adecuado, 39% sobrepeso y 8% obesidad. El 57% no realizaba actividad física; las mujeres eran más activas que los hombres; solo 27% lo hacía tres o más veces semanales. Respecto a la ingesta diaria de alimentos el almuerzo fue el más frecuente, no así la merienda, la menos consumida. La mitad de los estudiantes refirió infusión de mate como principal ingesta entre horas, pero 34% recurría a hidratos de carbono industrializados; sólo 12 % mencionó frutas y derivados. Conclusiones: Hay variaciones del estado nutricional en los estudiantes de primer año de las tres carreras de la Facultad de Medicina, con datos alarmantes de sobrepeso y obesidad. La población globalmente más afectada es la de Medicina y el sexo masculino. Objetivo do curso: Descrever a situação nutricional nos alunos do primeiro ano das três carreiras da Faculdade de Medicina (UNNE). Material e método: Estudo quantitativo, descritivo e transversal. A amostra foi composta por 10% dos alunos no primeiro ano de cada corrida considerada como um conglomerado, escolhidos aleatoriamente. Para a coleta de dados utilizou-se um formulário e o peso e a estatura, investigando as variáveis idade, sexo, raça, consumo diário, desempenho e frequência de atividade física, estado nutricional e principal alimentação consumida entre as horas. Resultados: Analisaramse os dados de 90 estudantes das três carreiras, observando que 53% apresentaram peso adequado, 39% sobrepeso e 8% obesidade.57% não realizavam atividade física; as mulheres eram mais ativas que os homens;apenas 27% realizaram três ou mais vezes por semana. Em relação ao consumo alimentar diário, o almoço foi o mais frequente, não o lanche, o menos consumido.Metade dos estudantes relatou infusão de mate como o principal consumo entre as refeições, mas 34% recorreram a carboidratos industrializados; apenas 12% mencionaram frutas e derivados. Conclusões: Há variações do estado nutricional nos alunos do primeiro ano das três carreiras da Faculdade de Medicina, com dados alarmantes de sobrepeso e obesidade.
