description The objective of this study was to analyze the experiences related to violence in a group of women along their lives, identifying the continuities and changes in these women. Indepth  semi-structured interviews were applied to seven women who attended a group of mutual help, still familiar for six of them. Results show certain relativism regarding the conception of violence, their ability to cope with it and the dynamic nature of experiences of violence.  Besides, they question the supposition of generalized subordination of women in these relationships, as well as the inevitable increase of violence if there is no professional intervention.  Having the results as a starting point, a model on the processes producing and facilitating violence was built, highlighting the role of conflicts, social learning and inequality among the actors involved in the production of the phenomenon.

El objetivo del estudio fue analizar las experiencias de violencia de un grupo de mujeres a lo largo de su trayectoria de vida, identificando continuidades y cambios en las mismas. Se aplicaron entrevistas a profundidad y semi-estructuradas a siete mujeres que asistían a un grupo de ayuda mutua y a un familiar para seis de ellas. Los resultados muestran cierto relativismo en las concepciones sobre la violencia, la capacidad de afrontamiento de las mujeres y el carácter dinámico de las experiencias de violencia. Asimismo, cuestionan el supuesto de la subordinación generalizada de las mujeres en estas relaciones, así como la inevitable escalada de la violencia si no se realiza una intervención profesional. En base a los resultados, se construyó un modelo sobre procesos productores y facilitadores de las violencias que destaca el papel de los conflictos, el aprendizaje social y la desigualdad entre los actores en la producción del fenómeno. O objetivo do estudo foi analisar as experiências de violência de um grupo de mulheres ao longo de sua trajetória de vida, identificando continuidades e mudanças nelas. Entrevistas em profundidade e semiestruturadas foram aplicadas a sete mulheres que participaram de um grupo de apoio mútuo e, a um membro da família para seis delas. Os resultados mostram certo relativismo nas concepções sobre a violência, a capacidade de as mulheres se depararem com essas situações e a natureza dinâmica das experiências de violência. Mesmo assim, eles também questionam a suposição da subordinação generalizada das mulheres nessas relações, bem como a inevitável escalada da violência se uma intervenção profissional não for feita. Com base nos resultados, construiu-se um modelo sobre os processos que produzem e facilitam a violência, destacando o papel dos conflitos, a aprendizagem social e a desigualdade entre os atores na produção do fenômeno.
