The objective was to characterize the maternity process in the Province of Neuquén during the period 19952014.Specifically, it tries to describe prenatal controls in the public system and how deliveries result in the province, deepening if the variables mother age and educational level show any tendency when incorporated to the study. As a conclusion, it is not important to consider increasing prenatal control, but to reconsider pregnancy care, as regards modality and how it is carried out. The underlying strategy should refer to health professionals accompanying and informing during the maternity process. Las intervenciones médicas tanto en el embarazo como en el parto y específicamente la cesárea electiva, son tema de debate entre los distintos especialistas. El objetivo de la presente ponencia es caracterizar el proceso de la maternidad en la Provincia del Neuquén durante el periodo 1995-2014. Específicamente, interesa describir sobre los controles prenatales en el sistema público y como concluyen los partos en la Provincia, profundizando si las variables edad de la madre y nivel educativo presentan alguna tendencia cuando se las incorpora al estudio. Como conclusión, es necesario no pensar en llevar adelante un incremento de los controles prenatales, sino repensar la atención del embarazo en cuanto a su modalidad y la mirada a partir de la cual se ponen en práctica. El planteo de fondo debe estar referido al acompañamiento y a la información por parte de los profesionales de la salud, durante el proceso de la maternidad. As intervenções médicas, bem durante a gravidez quanto no parto e especificamente, cesariano eletivo, são objeto de debate entre os vários especialistas.. O nosso alvo foi caracterizar o processo de maternidade, na província de Neuquén durante o período de 1995-2014. Especificamente, foi de interesse descrever os controles pré-natais na rede pública e como concluem os partos na província, aprofundando se as variáveis idade materna e grau de escolaridade evidenciam alguma tendência quando incorporados no estudo. Em conclusão, não é preciso pensarmos em levar a cabo um aumento do control no pré-natal, mas refletir nos cuidados na gravidez e sobre a perspectiva a partir da qual são concretizadas na prática profissional. O núcleo da análise deve ser referido ao acompanhamento e fornecimento de informações pelos profissionais de saúde, durante o processo da maternidade. Escuela de Salud Pública y Ambiente. Fac. Cs.
