Futures studies served to provide a scientific framework to the dictatorships refoundational project. In Latin America, future studies were linked to the National Security Doctrine, allowed to anticipate possible scenarios to plan and develop publicpolicies. The institutional dictatorships of the Armed Forces of Argentina and Chile resorted to this discipline to design government ́s plans in the long‐range.
