| Sumario: | This paper analyzes the situation of young public employees in 5 municipalities of Querétaro, Mexico. The aim is to assess whether the popular assertion that employment in the public sector is a privileged situation with respect to other jobs applies to young public employees. Based on interviews and government data, we examine in depth the adequacy of salaries, participation in decision-making, possibilities for professional growth, skills and abilities, and future expectations of young municipal employees. The case studies are evaluated individually and comparatively. |
