A specialized literature review is submitted, which addresses Health National Policy on Science, Technology and Innovation (Política Nacional de Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação em Saúde, PNCTIS) together with actions to strengthen the Industrial Health Complex (Complexo Industrial de Saúde, CIS), discussion which should provide a starting point and motivation for future research. These actions were relevant because they raised an unprecedented process of institutional coordination for the health sector at the federal level, in line with last decade`s science and technology promotion initiatives and incentives for innovation. El objetivo de este artículo es estimular el debate acerca del papel de la política pública en el desarrollo científico y tecnológico en salud, con énfasis en el contexto brasileño de la última década. Se trata de una revisión de literatura especializada, que aborda la Política Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación en Salud (PNCTIS) y las acciones para el fortalecimiento del Complejo Industrial en Salud (CIS), cuya discusión debe servir como punto de partida y estímulo para futuras investigaciones. Tales acciones se mostraron relevantes por traer a la superficie un proceso inédito de coordinación institucional para el sector en Salud a nivel federal, en consonancia con las iniciativas de promoción de ciencia y tecnología e innovación promovidas en la última década.
