His adaptive strategies functioned as a starting point for the consideration of diverse cultural processes. Chango’s thoughts on popular music make sense next to contexts such as the space race and the expansion of youth culture and mass cultural industry. The analysis of his proposal of renovating native music leads us to take into account the process of expansion and diversification of the field from 1960 (folklore “boom”) and that of retraction from 1965 (“reflux” of the boom). The virtual expulsion of Rodríguez from the national mass circuit and the reduction in the consumption and circulation of his music towards the end of the 1960s can be understood when considering the political experiences of the UNC students and the politicization and radicalization of culture. Chango’s trajectory allows us to visualize the dynamism of popular music and musical tastes, both in constant transformation during the period under study.  La contextualización de un fragmento (1960-1975) de la trayectoria vital y profesional del folclorista José Ignacio, el “Chango”, Rodríguez nos permitió conocer más sobre la cultura de los 60 y 70 en la escala local, nacional e internacional. Sus estrategias adaptativas funcionaron como un punto de partida para la consideración de diversos procesos culturales. Las reflexiones del Chango sobre la música popular tienen sentido si los ubicamos junto a contextos como la carrera espacial y la expansión de la industria cultural, su masificación y juvenilización. El análisis de su propuesta renovadora de la música nativa nos lleva a tener en cuenta el proceso de expansión y diversificación del campo a partir de 1960 (“boom” del folclore) y el de retracción desde 1965 (“reflujo” del boom). La virtual expulsión de Rodríguez del circuito masivo nacional y la reducción del consumo y circulación de su música hacia finales de los 60 se comprenden al considerar las experiencias de lucha del estudiantado de la UNC y la politización y radicalización de la cultura. La trayectoria del Chango nos permite visualizar el dinamismo de la música popular y de los gustos musicales, ambos en constante transformación durante el periodo trabajado.  Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades.
