His philosophical capital work Beiträge zu einer kritik der Sprache (1901-1902) is considered one of the most radical expressions of linguistic skepticism. In this respect, G. Weiler (1970) considers that this type of radical skepticism becomes self-defeating, leading to mysticism. From his perspective, Mauthner presents himself as an anti-philosopher. This conclusion, however, is imprecise because it does not incorporate elements that allow enriching and clarifying the type of skepticism that comprises the critical-philosophical project. In particular, it overlooks the differences between modern skepticism and Pyrrhonism. Through a critical discussion with this “skeptical” interpretation, the aim of this article is to recover the Pyrrhonian elements present in the Mauthnerian critique of language. Our hypothesis is that this recovery allows a clearer understanding of his thought, and also enables a philosophically consistent perspective of it. From this, we will try to show that the Mauthnerian critical project can be understood as an original form of neo-pyrrhonism.  Fritz Mauthner (1849-1923) fue una de las figuras más representativas de la crisis del lenguaje (Sprachkrise) de principios de siglo XX expresada por diversos intelectuales, poetas y escritores germanohablantes. Su obra filosófica capital “Contribuciones para una crítica del lenguaje” (1901-1902) es considerada una de las expresiones más radicales del escepticismo lingüístico. Al respecto, G. Weiler (1970) considera que este tipo de escepticismo radical deviene autodestructivo (self-defeating), conduciendo a un misticismo. Desde su perspectiva, Mauthner se presenta como un anti-filósofo. Esta conclusión, sin embargo, resulta imprecisa en tanto no incorpora elementos que permitan enriquecer y esclarecer el tipo de escepticismo que comprende el proyecto crítico-filosófico. En particular, pasa por alto las diferencias existentes entre el escepticismo moderno y el pirronismo. A través de una discusión crítica con esta interpretación “escéptica”, el objetivo de este artículo consiste en recuperar los elementos pirrónicos presentes en la crítica del lenguaje mauthneriana. Nuestra hipótesis es que esta recuperación permite una comprensión más clara de su pensamiento y habilita una perspectiva filosóficamente consistente de este. A partir de esto, intentaremos mostrar que el proyecto crítico mauthneriano puede ser comprendido como una forma original de neopirronismo.  Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades.
