| Sumario: | This article is about the logics that dispute the meanings related to illness and disease, based on an ethnographic approach to the mental health field in the city of Córdoba, Argentina. This approach is given from the category “diagnosis” as an articulating axis of the practices and discourses that monopolize the field. As a part of a policy of demanicomialization that arises from reformist movements in the health sector in response to biological perspectives and old hygienist measures, the dismantling of asylum institutions seeks to integrate the mental health into primary health care. Therefore, nowadays, this category is being disputed by different subordinate actors who participatein the dynamics that configure the senses around mental health in pursuit of a social and political recognition of their existence as right holders above the biology of their bodies. |
