Sumario:In recent years there has been a renewed interest in the study of socioeconomic residential segregation in the region; usually, they have focused on the quantitative study of the phenomenon , especially the measurement of segregation levels and the negative effects of this phenomenon on the quality of life of the population , with few studies of the subjective dimension of the same . However, in the last five years there have been advances that contribute to an interpretative reflection of the importance of the subjective and symbolic in understanding this phenomenon. In this paper we present a theoretical analysis of the category of " social representations " , from which we are positioned to understand this dimension of segregation, and lets us know the " world view " that construct subjects to work or take position on different social objects , in this case , the territory and the phenomenon of socioeconomic residential segregation.
