For this, the process of reform of the State in Argentina is briefly addressed, which resulted in the decrease of the National State and the rise of the municipalities. Subsequently, clarifications are presented regarding the distinction between decentralization and deconcentration, since it is important to understand these differences to understand these strategies more fully. Different categories are then formulated within which to frame the specific tools or initiatives that the Municipality of Villa María carries out or carried out within its Strategic Plan for Municipal Decentralization, which began in 2007. Finally, it concludes with some considerations about the importance of studying these initiatives with the aim of proposing or deepening this or other projects of decentralization of municipal public management. En este trabajo se analizan las políticas públicas de descentralización y desconcentración territorial del Municipio de Villa María en el período 2007 - 2022. Para ello se aborda, brevemente, el proceso de reforma del Estado en Argentina que trajo como consecuencia la disminución del Estado Nacional y el auge de los municipios. Posteriormente, se presentan precisiones en torno a la distinción entre descentralización y desconcentración ya que es importante realizar estas diferencias para comprender de manera más acabada estas estrategias. Luego, se formulan categorías entro de las cuales encuadrar las herramientas o iniciativas específicas que lleva o llevó a cabo el Municipio de Villa María dentro de su Plan Estratégico de Descentralización Municipal, el cual comenzó en el año 2007. Finalmente, se concluye con algunas consideraciones acerca de la importancia de estudiar estas iniciativas con el objetivo de proponer o profundizar este u otros proyectos de descentralización de la gestión pública municipal.
