description Our economic history particularly that of the last 80 years, regardless of who have been the protagonists, the ideologues and the genesis that gave rise to the different governments, constitutes an endless chain of mistakes and contradictions. This fact is easily verifiable with the profound Argentine decline, which led us from a select tenth place in world level of development in 1914, tothe current insignificance of our Gross Domestic Product, with inconsequential international trade, high inflation rates and high levels of poverty and indigence. In order not to extend the analysis to such an extensive period, I have decided to circumscribe the work from the moment the military dictatorship began of 1976 to date, although, as explained in the Introduction, to avoid an excess of information that could reach be tedious and intense that prevents its enjoyable reading, is divided into two parts. The first will include from 1976 to 2001, and the one that follows, from 2001 to the present. I must clarify that, in the second part, I will make only some specific references to the economic policies of the current government; The reason has to do with the fact that it takes a few years to gain a historical perspective that allows for a deep and objective reflection on one of the most troubled and controversial periods in our history. The intention of this work is to unmask the apocryphal, electoral and contradictory use thatwas made in Argentina of the most traditional and recognized economic theories in the world. In this way, I will review the “native” versions, be they liberal, Keynesian or populist, demonstrating the lack of rationality in their use and the damage they caused to the economic and social evolution of our country.

Este hecho es fácilmente verificable con la profunda decadencia argentina, que nos condujo desde un selecto décimo lugar en nivel de desarrollo a nivel mundial en 1914, a la insignificancia actual de nuestro Producto Bruto Interno, con un comercio internacional intrascendente, elevados índices de inflación y altos niveles de pobreza e indigencia. Para no extenderel análisis a un período tan extenso, he decidido circunscribir el trabajo desde el momento en que comienza la dictadura militar de 1976 a la fecha, aunque, como se explicita en la Introducción, para evitar un exceso de información que pueda llegar a ser tediosa e intensa que impida su lectura amena, está dividido en dos partes. La primera incluirá desde 1976 a 2001, y la que sigue, de 2001 a laactualidad. Debo aclarar que, en la segunda parte, haré sólo algunas referencias puntuales a las políticas económicas del actual gobierno; la razón tiene que ver con que es necesario que pasen algunos años para tener una perspectiva histórica que permita una reflexión profunda y objetiva de uno de los períodos más convulsionados y controvertidos de nuestra historia. La intención de este trabajo, es desenmascarar el uso apócrifo, electoralista y contradictorio que se hizo en Argentina de las teorías económicas más tradicionales y reconocidas en el mundo. De esta manera, repasaré las versiones “nativas”, sean liberales, keynesianas o populistas, demostrando la falta de racionalidad en el uso de las mismas y el daño que ocasionaron en la evolución económica y social de nuestro país.
