This paper analyses the existing parameters in this respect in international law, its requirements for membership of certain international organizations and the jurisprudence of the main international judicial bodies in the European (ECtHR and CJEU) and American (IACHR) regional systems. No hay democracia sin Estado de Derecho y no hay Estado de Derecho sin independencia judicial. El presente trabajo analiza los parámetros existentes a este respecto en el Derecho Internacional, su exigencia en orden a la participación como miembro de determinadas Organizaciones Internacionales y la jurisprudencia de los principales órganos judiciales internacionales existentesen los sistemas regionales europeo (TEDH y TJUE) y americano (Corte IDH).
