description The process of women's integration into the university system was an achievement for women's rights, but even so, prejudices still exist regarding their role within this system or associated stereotypes about the careers they should study. For this reason, the present research aims to analyse the beliefs and attitudes about the role of women in the university system in public and private institutions in the city of Buenos Aires and the suburbs of Buenos Aires. For this purpose, an empirical study was carried out with 142 students from public and private, secular and religious universities, and from psychology and engineering courses. The results show that participants exhibit rigid gender stereotypes and moderate levels of sexism. At the same time, significant differences in attitudes towards women were identified according to the characteristics of the institution and the degree programme studied by the participants.

El proceso de integración de las mujeres al sistema universitario supuso una conquista para los derechos de las mujeres, pero aun así siguen existiendo prejuicios en cuanto a su rol dentro de este sistema o estereotipos acerca de las carreras que deben estudiar. Por esta razón, la presente investigación tiene como objetivo analizar las creencias y actitudes acerca del rol de las mujeres en el sistema universitario en instituciones públicas y privadas de la ciudad de Buenos Aires y el conurbano bonaerense. Para esto se realizó un estudio empírico con 142 estudiantes de universidades públicas y privadas, laicas y religiosas, y de las carreras de psicología e ingeniería. Los resultados exponen que las personas participantes exhiben estereotipos de género rígidos y niveles moderados de sexismo. A su vez, se identificaron diferencias significativas en las actitudes hacia las mujeres en función de las características de la institución y de la carrera que estudian las personas participantes del estudio empírico. O processo de integração das mulheres no sistema universitário foi uma conquista dos direitos das mulheres, mas, mesmo assim, ainda existem preconceitos com relação ao seu papel dentro desse sistema ou estereótipos associados sobre as carreiras que deveriam estudar. Por essa razão, a presente pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar as crenças e atitudes sobre o papel da mulher no sistema universitário em instituições públicas e privadas na cidade de Buenos Aires e nos subúrbios de Buenos Aires. Para isso, foi realizado um estudo empírico com 142 alunos de universidades públicas e privadas, seculares e religiosas, e de cursos de psicologia e engenharia. Os resultados mostram que os participantes exibem estereótipos de gênero rígidos e níveis moderados de sexismo. Ao mesmo tempo, foram identificadas diferenças significativas nas atitudes em relação às mulheres de acordo com as características da instituição e o programa de graduação cursado pelos participantes.
