Sumario:The aim of this work is to characterize industrial firms of the PGP according to their exporting behavior in order to achieve a better understanding of the export phenomenon at the microeconomic level, based on the evidence of industrial firms of PGP. The research is descriptive and exploratory, and applies univariate, bivariate and multiple correspondence analysis techniques, to data from 315 industrial firms surveyed during 2013 and 2014. The condition of being an exporter makes firms very different from the rest. Results shows that three clusters of exporting firms are identified, evidencing technological asymmetries among them. The differences among these groups are based on different sectors of activity to which the firms belong, different efforts and results in innovation, productive diversification, qualification of workforce, main export destinations and percentage of sales exported. In turn, within each cluster there are technological varieties and behavioral differences, since firms suffer similar problems, but afford them with different strategies.
