The research is descriptive and exploratory, and applies univariate, bivariate and multiple correspondence analysis techniques, to data from 315 industrial firms surveyed during 2013 and 2014. The condition of being an exporter makes firms very different from the rest. Results shows that three clusters of exporting firms are identified, evidencing technological asymmetries among them. The differences among these groups are based on different sectors of activity to which the firms belong, different efforts and results in innovation, productive diversification, qualification of workforce, main export destinations and percentage of sales exported. In turn, within each cluster there are technological varieties and behavioral differences, since firms suffer similar problems, but afford them with different strategies. El objetivo general de este trabajo es caracterizar a las empresas industriales del Partido de Gral. Pueyrredon (PGP) en relación a su comportamiento exportador, con el fin último de contribuir al conocimiento del fenómeno de la exportación en el nivel microeconómico, a partir de la evidencia de empresas industriales del PGP. La investigación es de tipo descriptiva y exploratoria, y se aplican técnicas univariadas, bivariadas y análisis de correspondencias múltiples a datos de 315 firmas industriales relevadas durante el segundo semestre del 2013 y primeros meses del 2014. Los resultados indican, en primer lugar, que la mera condición de ser exportadoras hace a las firmas distintas al resto y, en segundo lugar, que entre las firmas exportadoras se identifican distintos perfiles, evidenciando entre ellos asimetrías tecnológicas. Las diferencias entre las firmas exportadoras se basan en los distintos sectores de actividad a los que pertenecen, los distintos esfuerzos y resultados en innovación, la diversificación productiva, la calificación de la mano de obra, los principales destinos de exportación y el porcentaje de ventas exportado. A su vez, al interior de cada grupo existen variedades tecnológicas y diferencias de comportamiento, ya que las firmas comparten problemáticas similares, pero difieren en las estrategias con las que las enfrentan.
