Se analizan estudios de Europa, Asia, África y América Latina, y se hace foco en Argentina. La revisión identifica puntos de convergencia y de divergencia en lo que hace a la institucionalización del IFE. Mientras que en algunos países se consolida su inclusión curricular, otros enfrentan obstáculos estructurales. Se concluye que el diseño de políticas lingüísticas profundas resulta clave para fortalecer el lugar del IFE en la educación superior. This paper presents a narrative review of the impact of language policies and regulatory frameworks on the implementation of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) at the higher education level. Studies from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America are analysed, with a focus on Argentina. The review identifies similarities and differences in the institutionalization of ESP. While in some countries its curricular inclusion is consolidated, others face structural obstacles. It is concluded that the design of profound language policies is key to strengthening the place of IFE in higher education.
