Sumario:The article presents an analysis of the Programa Sur de apoyo a las traducciones –a public policy aimed at subsidizing the translation of books produced in Argentina into other languages– to observe how the geographical space of publishing is structured in that country. It reconstructs key contributions to investigate translation as a socio-cultural activity in which the inequalities of international circulation of literature are expressed. It examines how the Program constitutes a policy of internationalizing literary production in Argentina and proposes understanding the implications that the asymmetries in the geographical space of publishing have on the process of recognition and consecration that this translation policy entails.
