It reconstructs key contributions to investigate translation as a socio-cultural activity in which the inequalities of international circulation of literature are expressed. It examines how the Program constitutes a policy of internationalizing literary production in Argentina and proposes understanding the implications that the asymmetries in the geographical space of publishing have on the process of recognition and consecration that this translation policy entails. El artículo presenta un análisis del Programa Sur de apoyo a las traducciones –política pública destinada a subsidiar la traducción a otras lenguas de libros producidos en Argentina– para observar cómo se estructura el espacio geográfico de la edición en ese país. Reconstruye aportes clave para indagar la traducción como actividad socio-cultural en la que se expresan las desigualdades de la circulación internacional de la literatura, observa cómo el Programa constituye una política de internacionalización de la producción literaria en Argentina y propone comprender las incidencias que tienen las asimetrías del espacio geográfico de la edición sobre el proceso de reconocimiento y consagración que esta política de traducción supone.
