| Sumario: | The aim of this paper is to show the achievements and the challenges of the teaching/learning process of reading comprehension and writing in English at university. In the School of Philosophy and Letters at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, we have developed a reading comprehension model to help students with a low proficiency level in the English language to become strategic and autonomous readers after a short instruction period. A challenge we must face now is the demand to prepare students to write research article abstracts in the foreign language. A possible solution to achieve this goal is to apply the Genre Based Literacy Pedagogy. |
