The analysis of the target text makes it possible to recognise the norms in translation that guided the writing process in Spanish, which leads to the recognition of the representations (about the source and target language). This approach allows us to recognise the role of the diatopic varieties of Spanish in translated literature in the local literary system and to outline the existing relations between the representations and language policies of the Spanish-speaking world. En este artículo abordaré las representaciones sociolingüísticas que se desprenden del análisis de la versión al español de la novela espiralista Los poseídos de la luna llena, del escritor haitiano Jean-Claude Fignolé, traducida del francés de Haití por Laura Masello y publicada en 1992 por Trilce, una editorial independiente uruguaya. El análisis del texto meta permite recuperar las normas de traducción que guiaron el proceso de escritura en español, las cuales implican representaciones (sobre la lengua fuente y la lengua meta). Este acercamiento permite reconocer el espacio que ocupan las variedades diatópicas del español en la literatura traducida en el sistema literario local y esbozar las relaciones existentes entre las representaciones y las políticas lingüísticas del mundo hispanohablante.
