The linguistic decisions of the speakers are framed by public actions, but also by private actions, reflected in the shops’ names of the downtown space of Rivera. In this work, I found that the languages most present in the trade names are Spanish and English, and, contrary to what could be expected given the characteristics of the community, Portuguese was not present.
