| Sumario: | This work aims to analyze the presence and circulation of the Spanish language in the city of Bagé, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, located on the Brazil-Uruguay border, through the operation of commercial establishments designations. To this end, we’ve adopted the Semantics of the Event (Guimarães, 2005a) in interface with the French line of Discourse Analysis (Orlandi, 2009). In the analysis of the names in Spanish, we perceive the functioning of a memorable in the ten designations that, in the enunciative scenes in the city space, signify the social relations and the historically shared territory by these subjects who inhabit the border, marking the presence of the Spanish language as a part of the identification of places and of the subjects in circulation in the city. |
