The methodology applied is displayed as well. This project pursued the goal of carrying out a census of the Archives and records management of some of the state and private corporate bodies from San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca city. The first diagnosis has allowed its archival description and the elaboration of a fonds guide of the local archives, following ISAD (G) and ISAAR (CPF). Every area and element of ISAD (G) is broken down in detail.  The strengths and weaknesses are explained in order to adapt them at the local level. ISAAR (CPF) has been used particularly for the normalization of the creator.   Key words: archival description - fonds guide - Archives - Catamarca Se presentan los resultados y el camino metodológico de un proyecto de investigación aplicada, avalado y subsidiado por el CONICET denominado Rescate, descripción y puesta en valor del patrimonio histórico documental de Catamarca y su transferencia para la construcción del conocimiento sociohistórico. El mismo persiguió como uno de sus objetivos realizar un censo de los archivos históricos y administrativos de las principales entidades públicas y algunas privadas de la ciudad de San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca. La primera diagnosis ha permitido su descripción archivística y la elaboración de una guía de fondos de los archivos locales, siguiendo la norma internacional ISAD (G) e ISAAR (CPF). Se desglosa cada una de las áreas y elementos de la norma ISAD (G) y se explican los aciertos y dificultades para su adaptación local.
