El objetivo de la investigación fue identificar la política archivística en materia de evaluación documental del Honorable Concejo Municipal, a partir de un estudio de caso referido a la documentación producida por la entidad legislativa local.Mediante la aplicación de una metodología de perspectivas cualitativa y cuantitativa, se recolectaron datos a partir de diferentes técnicas e instrumentos, tales como guías para la observación y cuestionarios a informantes clave, a partir de los cuales se elaboró un diagnóstico del estado de situación del fondo documental y su realidad institucional. Esto permitió el diseño de un estudio de evaluación documental, a través de formularios de valoración y de tablas de plazos de las series documentales, cuya información se sintetizó en una planilla resumen.La observación directa muestra que la institución objeto de estudio evidencia acumulación irracional de papeles lo que dificultaría el acceso a la información, elevaría los costos de infraestructura y recursos humanos, así como también el tiempo en la resolución de gestiones administrativas; reflejando, en principio, la ausencia de una política archivística en materia de evaluación y control documental.AbstractThe objective of the research was to identify the archival documentary policy evaluation of the Honorable City Council, from a case study based on the documentation produced by the local legislative entity.Through application of a methodology of qualitative and quantitative perspectives, data were collected from different techniques and instruments, such as guides for observation and questionnaires to key informants, from which a diagnosis of the state was prepared sheet background documentary and institutional reality. This allowed the design of a documentary study evaluation through assessment forms and deadlines tables documentary series, whose information was synthesized into a summary spreadsheet.Direct observation shows that the institution under study, evidence irrational accumulation of papers, and this would hinder access to information, raise costs of infrastructure and human resources as well as time in the resolution of administrative formalities; reflecting, in principle, the absence of an archival policy evaluation and document control.Key words: archival policy, documentary assessment, preservation, heritage.
