There is no doubt that the cytological alterations described in chronic alcoholism are preceded and accompanied by histochemical modifications; but our ignorance is complete on this point and we have only a few hypotheses that try to explain the mechanism of narcosis due to alcohol. Nuestros conocimientos relativos a la acción que el alcohol etílico ejerce sobre el organismo humano son exclusivamente anatomo-patológicos. No cabe duda que las alteraciones citológicas descriptas en el alcoholismo crónico son precedidas y acompañadas por modificaciones histoquímicas; pero nuestra ignorancia es completa sobre este punto y tan solo poseemos algunas hipótesis que tratan de explicar el mecanismo de la narcosis debida al alcohol.
