El estudio de las defensas posesorias, su fundamento y la extensión de su tutela es una de las materias que más han apasionado a los juristas. Este trabajo no es un desarollo de las acciones posesorias, tiene solo por objeto la última parte de la cita que lo encabeza, .es decir, hacer conocer cómo se recibe la protección posesoria en el Concilio Lateranense a través del derecho decretal en la legislación canónica.
