Por sus características, resulta un complejo heterogéneo de rocas, diferentes a las conocidas de igual edad, en las restantes partes de la Sierra de Córdoba y de las demás unidades australes del sistema de las Sierras Pampeanas. En el Norte de nuestro país se han encontrado esquistos cuarcíticos poco metamorfoseados que se los puede identificar con estos que nos ocupan.
