It is therefore not surprising that the high percentages of positive antecedents reported by the various authors sometimes diverge considerably. Thus, for example, one of the first statistics, that of Fournier, tells us that in 50 % of the cases the history of chancroid is positive. No siempre es posible establecer, por medio del interrogatorio, los antecedentes del chancro específico; a veces, los mismos enfermos niegan esta posibilidad, resistiéndose a aceptarla por razones vinculadas a arraigados prejuicios que el médico se ve obligado a respetar. Por eso, no ha de extrañar que los elevados porcentajes de antecedentes positivos que señalan los diversos autores divergen a veces considerablemente. Así, por ejemplo, una de las primeras estadísticas, la de Fournier, nos dice que en un 50 % de los casos los antecedentes referentes al chancro, son positivos.
