En el hombre, el aparato tímico es un órgano voluminoso, compuesto por una serie de lóbulos macizos en conjunto. En los anfibios y los peces inferiores, hay siete u ocho timos en cada costado del cuerpo ,formando su conjunto el llamado apa-rato tímico. El timo podríamos decir que es un órgano transitorio y es poco conocido, y es complicado y variable en una misma especie de animal. De aquí la necesidad de su organo-génesis y el estudio 1 de la histología comparada de este aparato.
