The purpose of this paper is to establish some lines of analysis in relation to the application of justice in Córdoba based on the data obtained for the crimes of "cattle rustling" in the period 1785-1790. The documentation used consists of 45 criminal files from the Books of Crime, covering the districts of Ischilín, San Javier, Calamuchita, Punilla, Río Cuarto, Río Primero, Río Segundo and Río Tercero, that is, a large part of the Córdoba countryside, during the first five years of the government of the Marquis of Sobremonte of the Governorate of Córdoba. During this period, a series of centralist measures of the Bourbon administration in relation to the application of justice stand out. The reduced period and the singularity of the crime investigated will allow us, for the moment, to mark some tendencies and to ask ourselves certain questions that we intend to consolidate with an extension in time and an extension in the documentary corpus. For this reason, we have tried at this stage to make an intensive reading of the basic source, with particular emphasis on empirical work. Notwithstanding this, and considering that the subject is part of a macro project, the questions and problems underlie a theoretical framework centered on the conceptualization of the practice of justice as a form of exercising power. El objeto del trabajo es establecer algunas líneas de análisis con relación a la aplicación de la justicia en Córdoba sobre la base de los datos obtenidos de los delitos de “robo de ganado” en el período 1785-1790. La documentación utilizada consta de 45 expedientes penales de los Libros del Crimen, con una cobertura que abarca los partidos de Ischilín, San Javier, Calamuchita, Punilla,Río Cuarto, Río Primero, Río Segundo y Río Tercero, es decir gran parte de la campaña de Córdoba.El período corresponde a los primeros cinco años de gobierno del Marqués de Sobremonte de la Gobernación Intendencia de Córdoba. Durante ese períodose destaca una serie de medidas de carácter centralista de la administración borbónica con relación a la aplicación de la justicia. Lo reducido del período y la singularidad del delito indagado nos permitirá, por el momento, marcar algunas tendencias y realizarnos ciertas preguntas que pretendemos afianzar conuna extensión en el tiempo y una ampliación en el corpus documental. Es por ello que en esta instancia hemos intentado realizar una lectura intensivade la fuente básica privilegiando particularmente el trabajo empírico. Sin perjuicio de ello y considerando que el tema está inserto en un proyecto macro, subyace en los interrogantes y problemas un marco teórico centrado en la conceptualización de la práctica de la justicia como una forma de ejercicio delpoder.
