Sumario:In the following essay we argue that the genre on which Leopoldo Lugones presents himself as an intellectual place him —as a poet— as the ultimate authority of culture from the intellectual tradition of Romanticism and Modernism. From the analyzed sources, with a language overloaded with images, typical of American Modernism, he builds his prescriptive-pedagogical essays with an explicitly polemical and political character.
