In a second moment, I delve into the ways in which the eastern area of ​​the city of Córdoba was built, where the cemetery is located, with special emphasis on the concept of taboo suggested by Douglas (1973). The following questions guide this work: what are the socio-historical processes involved in the new cult of cemeteries during the 19th century? And what role does the death taboo play in the development of the eastern area of ​​the city of Córdoba? A continuación, propongo un recorrido que procura poner en contexto el surgimiento del Cementerio San Vicente en la ciudad de Córdoba. Para ello, se vuelve necesario partir de una historización de los procesos (sociales, culturales, políticos y médicos) que dan lugar a los cambios de las actitudes frente a la muerte en Occidente, y en particular, a un nuevo culto a los cementerios hacia el siglo XIX. En un segundo momento, ahondo en las maneras en las que se fue construyendo la zona Este de la ciudad de Córdoba, donde se ubica el cementerio, haciendo especial hincapié en el concepto de tabú sugerido por Douglas (1973). Las siguientes preguntas guían este trabajo: ¿cuáles son los procesos socio históricos inmiscuidos en el nuevo culto a los cementerios durante el siglo XIX?, ¿Cómo fue este proceso en Argentina y en particular en Córdoba? y ¿Qué papel juega el tabú de la muerte en el desarrollo de la zona Este de la ciudad de Córdoba?
