As the most relevant trade union structure of the time, it was barely addressed in its political orientations and here we investigate its performance in light of its claim of prescindencia. To do this, we will analyze the relationship of the union leadership with the workers in connection with the political identity of radicalism; relations with the State and governments; the assessments of the political, social and economic sphere of the national and international reality; and, finally, the links with the left. Este trabajo propone indagar la experiencia de la Unión Ferroviaria en la segunda mitad de los años treinta. Pese a tratarse de la estructura sindical más relevante de la época, la misma ha sido escasamente abordada en sus orientaciones políticas. Aquí indagamos su desempeño a la luz de su pretensión de prescindencia política. Para ello, analizaremos la relación de la dirección sindical con los trabajadores en vínculo con la identidad política del radicalismo; las relaciones con el Estado y los gobiernos; las valoraciones de la esfera política, social y económica de la realidad nacional e internacional; y, por último, las vinculaciones con las izquierdas.
