It debates with some historical interpretations of this process elaborated by militants of different political currents that generated a series of myths about the formation of the working class in Argentina, among them, the foreign character of most of the workers and their ideologies. In contrast, the native origin of a significant number of workers who formed the urban proletariat after the establishment of industries in the main urban centers (Buenos Aires, Rosario and Córdoba) is recognized. The dynamics of the labor market are also characterized, identifying seasonal variations in supply and demand. In connection with these production conditions, the forms of organization and claims in the first strike movements that took place in the period are analyzed, recognizing productive sectors and predominant ideologies in them, as well as explaining the causes that provoked booms and declines in them. Se analiza la composición de la mano de obra trabajadora a fines del siglo XIX y comienzos del siglo XX en Argentina, describiendo el proceso de migraciones internas y urbanización de la población que caracterizó ese proceso histórico. Se debate con algunas interpretaciones históricas de este proceso elaboradas por militantes de distintas corrientes políticas que generaron una serie de mitos sobre la formación de la clase obrera en Argentina, entre ellos, el carácter de extranjeros de la mayoría de los trabajadores y sus ideologías. En contraposición, se reconoce el origen nativo de un caudal importante de trabajadores que constituyeron el proletariado urbano a partir del establecimiento de industrias en los principales centros urbanos (Buenos Aires, Rosario y Córdoba). También se caracteriza la dinámica del mercado de trabajo, identificando las variaciones estacionales en la oferta y la demanda. En vínculo con estas condiciones de producción, se analizan las formas de organización y reclamos en los primeros movimientos huelguísticos que acontecen en el período, reconociendo sectores productivos e ideologías predominantes en ellos, como también explicando las causas que provocaron auges y declinaciones en las mismas.
