With respect to the study of regional spaces, he identifies two proposals for analysis, one that emphasises economic aspects and the other that focuses on the social structure. Without dismissing the former, he favours the latter because it allows the economic, socio-political and institutional reality of a region to be recovered in all its complexity. El presente trabajo plantea en primera instancia una puesta en cuestión, sobre el análisis del siglo XIX desde una perspectiva regional. Este ejercicio metodológico, se centra específicamente en el caso argentino durante el siglo XIX, para tratar luego la conformación del área centro sur santafecina. Con respecto al estudio de los espacios regionales identifica dos propuestas de análisis, una que pone énfasis en los aspectos económicos y otros en la estructura social. Sin desestimar la primera, privilegia la segunda porque permite recuperar en toda su complejidad la realidad económica, sociopolítica e institucional de una región.
