Next, we characterize and call into question the images and meanings of the past that took place during the commemoration of the centenary of the founding of the city of Formosa. Finally, we deal with the views on the province, held by various local intellectuals in the Frontera magazine, published between 1982 and 1983. En este trabajo abordamos diversos usos del pasado, y prácticas de legitimación política durante la última dictadura militar en la provincia de Formosa. En principio, analizamos los fundamentos del Decreto 3.138/77 que cambió los nombres de 86 pueblos del interior provincial. A continuación, caracterizamos y problematizamos las imágenes y sentidos del pasado que se pusieron  en escena, durante la conmemoración del centenario de la fundación de la ciudad de Formosa. Por último, nos ocupamos de las visiones sobre la provincia, desplegadas por diversos intelectuales locales en la revista Frontera, publicada entre 1982 y 1983.
