Undoubtedly, the vision that the family environment had, and especially the mothers, of the children's body, of the processes that occurred in it, differs remarkably from what we can have today. In a theocentric society, like that of the Castilian Middle Ages, most of the times divine intervention was appealed to to overcome these misfortunes. This also shows that one of the greatest ills that affected children's lives were diseases. El presente trabajo abordará las dolencias que aquejaban a los niños en la Baja Edad Media castellana. Sin lugar a dudas, la visión que tenía el entorno familiar, y en especial las madres, del cuerpo de los niños, de los procesos que en él ocurrían, difiere notablemente de la que podemos tener hoy. En una sociedad teocéntrica, como la del medioevo castellano, se apelaba la mayoría de las veces a la intervención divina para vencer esas desgracias. Esto pone en evidencia, además, que uno de los mayores males que afectaba la vida de los niños eran las enfermedades.
