Some questions that cross this investigation are: what past is historized in the theses? What evidence supports the historical narrative? What form of dynamics and social change is narrated in that past? What sense is assigned to this historiographical operation? En este artículo se analizan los usos del pasado puesto en juego por jóvenes juristas en las Tesis presentadas para optar por el grado de Doctor en Jurisprudencia defendidas en la UBA durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX que analizaron la institución Justicia de Paz de la provincia de Buenos Aires. Algunas preguntas que atraviesan esta indagación son ¿qué pasado se historiza en las tesis? ¿Qué evidencias sostienen la narrativa histórica? ¿Qué forma de dinámica y cambio social se narra en ese pasado? ¿Qué sentido se asigna a esta operación históriográfica?
