Endorsed by the University of Cordoba, it was intended to give continuity to the work done by a deceased priest-historian, Monsignor Pablo Cabrera, in addition to consolidating other self-taught historians who had been working on the study of the past. This new space, a milestone for the history of the historiography of Cordoba, showed in its first publications the search for legitimacy of its place in the University and in other places of historical research of longer standing. Hence, its first two collections were crossed by the search for meaning and academic solidity. Throughout these pages we will analyze the first publications of the Institute of Americanist Studies and its clear link to the moment of its gestation. The temporary cutback chosen on this occasion proposes that we stop at its first stage in which its productions respond to legitimations and articulations between the Institute, the University and academic circles.
