To that end, the text explores the protests in the town of Villa Quinteros that originated after the closure of the local factory in 1967. Explaining the protests in the sugarcane villages involves reconstructing the characteristics of each community, examining the trajectories of the actors involved and replenishing the profiles of those who occupied leadership spaces. In this way, we seek to offer an interpretation of the functions performed by the neighbourhood commissions, the workers' union and the parish priest based on an analysis that recovers the complexity of the local dynamic. El artículo analiza el ciclo de conflictividad social que tuvo lugar en los pueblos de Tucumán frente al cierre de ingenios a mediados de la década de 1960. Con ese fin, explora las protestas en la localidad de Villa Quinteros originadas tras el cierre de la fábrica local en 1967. Explicar las protestas en los pueblos azucareros supone reconstruir las características de cada comunidad, examinar la trayectoria de los actores implicados y reponer los perfiles de quienes ocuparon espacios de liderazgo. De ese modo, buscamos ofrecer una interpretación sobre las funciones desempeñadas por las comisiones vecinales, el sindicato obrero y el cura párroco a partir de un análisis que recupere la complejidad de la dinámica local.
