In Argentina, as in other countries, this renewed left would be made up of young people, with a particular presence and predicament within the universities. In this article, from considering the advances registered in the field dedicated to the local student movement, I propose to discuss the analytical relevance of such concept to describe what happened in this country. Dentro de las ciencias sociales suele aludirse a la nueva izquierda para referirse al sector pionero en la protesta social de fines de la década de 1960 y comienzos de 1970, años marcados en el mundo por grandes movilizaciones estudiantiles. En la Argentina, como en otros países, esta izquierda renovada estaría integrada por jóvenes, con particular presencia y predicamento dentro de las universidades. En este artículo, a partir de considerar los avances registrados en el campo dedicado al movimiento estudiantil local, me propongo discutir la pertinencia analítica de tal concepto para describir lo acaecido en este país.
