Matorras was a Cantabrian merchant who, from the middle of the 18th century, began to weave links in the porteño society, especially in a nucleus of Biscayan origin. Goods, marriage policy, interests, friendships and enmities are constantly reconfigured within this network of relationships that allows us to transcend the local view of the Governorship of Tucumán and establish relationships between social actors in different corners of the monarchy. El presente estudio se propone indagar acerca de los vínculos políticos, comerciales, de paisanaje y de parentesco del Gobernador del Tucumán, Gerónimo Matorras, desde su Laredo natal hasta la toma del cargo de Gobernador. Matorras fue un comerciante cántabro que desde mediados del siglo XVIII comienza a tejer lazos en la sociedad porteña, especialmente en un núcleo de origen vizcaíno. Bienes, política matrimonial, intereses, amistades y enemistades se reconfiguran constantemente dentro de esta red de relaciones que nos permite trascender la mirada local de la Gobernación del Tucumán y establecer relaciones entre los actores sociales en diferentes rincones de la monarquía.
