The article reinforces the importance of reading the Jesuitical activity in Brazil as a consequence of regional and territorial planning, beyond any border, language barrier and individual settlement. La aparente falta de éxito del proyecto expansionista de los padres jesuitas de la primera expedición de Portugal -llegar a Asunción desde São Paulo de Piratininga -, resultó en la formación de un importante sistema de aldeamientos que contribuyó a la creación de una sólida red de relaciones socio-antropológicas cristalizadas en la actual Región Metropolitana de la capital paulista: la Grande São Paulo. El artículo aquí propuesto pretende reforzar la importancia de leer la actuación jesuítica en Brasil como consecuencia de una planificación regional y territorial por parte de la Compañía, mucho más allá de cualquier frontera, barrera lingüística y asentamiento individual. O aparente insucesso do projeto expansionista dos padres jesuítas da primeira expedição de Portugal - alcançar Asunción desde São Paulo de Piratininga -, resultou na formação de um importante sistema de aldeamentos que contribuiu à criação de uma solida rede de relações socioantropológicas cristalizadas na atual Região Metropolitana da capital paulista: a Grande São Paulo. O artigo aqui proposto entende reforçar a importância de ler a atuação jesuítica no Brasil como consequência de um planejamento regional e territorial por parte da Companhia, bem mais além de qualquer fronteira, barreira linguística e assentamento individual.
