It focuses on the last eight years before the expulsion of the Society of Jesus from Spanish territory(1760-1767). This period coincides with the rule of Charles III, king of Spain (1759-1788), Jesuit General Lorenzo Ricci (1758-1773) and Pedro Anselmo Sánchez de Tagle, Bishop of Michoacán. The article begins documenting its foundation, which influenced its administration until the suppression. Then, it offers a general panorama of the state of the schools and religious foundations of the diocese de Michoacán. Finally, it examines the colegio de Valladolid based on the following themes: funding, government and administration, beneficiaries, teaching, architecture and daily life. La presente investigación aborda la historia del antiguo colegio jesuita de San Francisco Xavier de Valladolid de Michoacán, hoy Morelia, México, en sus últimos ocho años antes de la expulsión de la Compañía de Jesús de la Monarquía Hispánica (1760-1767). Dicho período coincide con los gobiernos del monarca español Carlos III (1759-1788), el general Lorenzo Ricci (1758-1773) y el obispo de Michoacán Pedro Anselmo Sánchez de Tagle (1758-1772). Para analizar el estado del colegio en esos años, el artículo indaga al principio su tipo de fundación, que influyó en su administración al momento del extrañamiento; después, ofrece un panorama general del estado de los colegios y fundaciones religiosas de la diócesis de Michoacán. Finalmente, centra su análisis en el colegio de Valladolid a partir de las siguientes vertientes: financiamiento, gobierno y administración, beneficiarios, docencia, arquitectura y vida cotidiana.
