In this case, with the indigenous people re-introduced as a third actor, who participated directly in the reception of the civil authority in their village. There are various descriptions of how these events took place in different eras, but here is an unpublished instruction on how the reception should be carried out, specifically for a governor, as well as how to treat him during his stay. It was ordered in 1699 and distributed among the doctrines by the superior of Paraná, Fr. Mateo Sánchez, a missionary who was himself rector of several colleges and who years later suffered a violent death.
